Truth about Asylum Seekers
The UK is home to just 3% of the worlds refugees - 289,000 out of nearly 9.2 million worldwide.
- Two thirds of the worlds refugees are living in developing countries, often in refugee camps.
70% of the worlds refugees live in Africa or Asia...Europe is host to 22%.
Out of half a million refugees from Sudan, 895 made it the UK in 2005.
The Home Office imprisons roughly 2,000 asylum-seeking children with their families every year.
Asylum seekers are not allowed to work. They are forced to live on state support, set at 70% below the poverty level.
Asylum Seekrs do not jump the queue for council housing and they cannot choose where they live. The local councils do not pay for the accomodation, which is nearly alwasy hard to let property that other people have refused to live in.
Most Asylum Seekers are living in poverty and experience poor health and hunger.
- 90% of asylum claims are turned down by the Home Office
No one is illegal. Asylum is a right.

- Write to your MP and ask for the Clan Ebor Project to be stopped.
- Ask your MP to ask the Home Office to give asylum to people who flee dangerous countries.
- Come to the meetings and other activities; collect money to support the campaign.
